Free the Soundboard!

What is the TurboTail?

The TurboTail is a simple, elegant device that diverts the transfers the string tension from your guitar’s delicate soundboard to its internal tail block—the structural heart of the instrument.

Instead of anchoring the strings at the bridge (which compresses and restricts the soundboard), the TurboTail anchors the strings at the tail block of the guitar. This frees the soundboard to resonate naturally, like a speaker cone, no longer weighed down by 140+ pounds of steel string tension.

Guitar strings are like tiny steel cables. The total tension of six steel guitar strings ranges between 140 and 190 pounds, depending upon the string gauge (12-string guitar tension can exceed 300 pounds.) That's enough tension to lift a heavyweight wrestler off the ground.

This means that an acoustic guitar soundboard without the TurboTail is forced to act as a structural shear panel so that to keep from collapsing due to the intense stress exerted by the taut guitar strings.

Imagine what your guitar could sound like if the soundboard didn’t have to do all this heavy lifting.  Discover more & order the TurboTail.
